All work and no play makes Jack and Jill a dull boy and girl. Taking a hint from there, the Lions Club District 404B-2 rolled out a large tush green carpet to usher in their influential guests to an evening of work, fun and party, as the outgoing District Governor, Lion Dr Christine Funke Adebajo presented her outgoing address of stewardship and excellence awards to deserving persons and organisations, that supported the club's humanitarian cause, throughout her period of service.
It was a special evening for outgoing District Governor, Lion Dr Christine Funke Adebajo whose notch for excellence is said to have seen the club through the year.
The event which took place at The Quadosh event place in Ikeja, Lagos,
had an array of top socialites that graced the occasion. Amongst them were
Senator Gbenga Ashafa and wife Folashade, Senator Gbenga Obadara, Lion Stella
Agbogun who is also a multiple district council chairperson, Lion T.OS
Adewunmi, past district governor Engr Olaitan Onalaja, Lion Princess Toyin
Atobatele, Lion Deji Adebajo, Mrs Banke Obisesan and a host of other
distinguish personalities.
In her welcome address, Lion Folashade Ashafa who headed the district
award night cum dinner party committee extolled the virtues of the outgoing
District Governor as “The Mother Theresa of our enviable District, our own
bold, brainy and beautiful First Female District Governor, a doctor par
excellence and of course an exemplary leader with a touch of class."
Some of the highlights of the evening event was the impromptu
induction of Senator Gbenga Ashafa, his friend Senator Gbenga Obadara and Mrs Banke Obisesan into the Lions
Club.
The two cheerful Senators gladly stepped into the club's membership with great pride. And for them, it was simply a great night of fun, which the lively atmosphere fully supported. Senator Gbenga Ashafa proved that he could as well be a good singer and even a musician as he joined in singing the lions tunes and did very well with it.
Then came the awards of excellence, which was given to meritorious
members of the club who had excelled in different capacities during the service
year. And The Nation newspaper became one of the few corporate organisation
