Penultimate Sunday, all eyes were on Ilupeju Diamond Lions club of District 404B-2 Nigeria, as the club presented its top officials for the centennial year, at NECA House, Bauchi Hall, Ikeja, Lagos.
On hand to witness this epoch making event was Lion TOS Adewunmi
the District Governor in person, along with some members of his cabinet.

she handed over the symbol of office to the Centenary President Lion Olatundun Oriola Omosaiye (JP), after her out-going speech, where she enumerated some of her achievements during her service year.

The DG Lions Club then presented the new President Lion
Olatundun Oriola Omosaiye (JP). The children of the Pacelli School for the
Blind were there to ditch out music to entertain the august gathering.
The new President gave her acceptance speech to the cheering
of her members. She pointed out that during her service year, her priority
project will be the building of a 250 capacity hall for the Pacelli School for
the Blind located at Surulere, Lagos.
She went further to state that the school’s present hall is
in a deplorable condition and needs to be demolished and re-built to give the
students there a befitting hall, a N15 million naira project.
So before the call for donations began, the members of the
Ilupeju Diamond Lions Club ensured that all present had duly been served a good
lunch. And then the donations poured in. Though the target was not met, the new
President Lion Omosaiye said there is hope and called on God to touch the minds
of wealthy people around the globe to come to the clubs’ aid to fulfill this
worthwhile project.
For an event, there were lots of high points. The new
President’s mother, who is 104 years old, sent in a donation which really touched
the heart of all present. Out gone President, Lion Noimot Olatunji’s mother was
in the hall, a woman of over 70 years, she equally made a good donation.
Retired accountant Shonubi and wife Mama Shonubi also
donated good sums of money. Mama Salami, Mama Omolara Otujo, Sir Olaniran, Sir Brown John, Matron Ajayi, Sir and Lady Okesola, Mama Awonusi, Papa Sanya, the chairman Elder Ayo Oni though not present was represented by Sir Engineer Adelana Odutola who was there with wife Lady Adeana
Odutola, Lion Agura, the president and members of Unity Sisters of which the centennial Lion President is a matron were all there.
Dignitaries were also in the hall. The Lagos State
Government was represented by the Head of Service. Special guest of honour was
the doyen of accountancy in Nigeria Chief Akintola Williams, Lion Kola Oyekanmi, were not present, but were honoured at the event. But Mrs Ibironke Mojisola
Osiyemi was present and made a good donation, chief guest of honour Mrs Foluke Diya made the
club proud with a good donation, the guest speaker Sir Ben Ademola Abiodun
Aladekomo and wife Lady Rev Aladekomo, were also proud donors, Lion Margaret M.O. Ojaja the investiture
chairperson, the Rt Revd Bishop (Dr) Ayo Adewuyi and Sis Funmi, the Very Revd Johnson
F. Sunday, Prof and Dr (Mrs) Falaiye and a host of others.
The event was not completed until the new President’s
husband was formally inducted as member of the club and then the American
auction sale where many carted home a number of products.
