The Nigerian Internet Registration Association (NiRA) managers of .ng Country Top Level Domain (ccTLD) few days ago signed a Memorandum of understanding with the Kenya Network Information Center (KeNIC) the managers of .ke ccTLD.
This historic event which took place at the Villa Rosa
Kempinski in Nairobi, Kenya saw in the NiRA President Reverend Sunday A.
Afolayan, signing on behalf of the .ng registry, while Mr Abdalla Omari, the
CEO, KeNIC signed on behalf of the .ke registry.
The MOU parties warrant that the accreditation registrars
either under the NiRA and KENIC registries is deemed sufficient for the
provision of registrar services with NiRA and KENIC, and registrars will shall
not be required to undergo the accreditation process under the respective registry
to provide registrar services.
In another development, the Nigeria Internet Registration
Association which has opened up its website for nomination of individuals and
corporate organisations for NiRA 2017 .ng Awards, also few days ago, signed yet
another Memorandum of Understanding, with the AFRINIC Ltd in Nairobi, Kenya, to
develop and certify skills in internet number resources management and IPv6 in
Nigeria.
The MOU was signed by Mr Sikiru A. Shehu, the Dean of NiRA
Academy on behalf of NiRA, While Mr Alan P. Barret, CEO of AFRINIC Ltd, signed
on behalf of AFRINIC.
