Throughout that week, an atmosphere of celebration enveloped the school, as pupils
prepared and looked forward anxiously to the 3 day activity-lined celebration
that the school's management rolled out.
This
time around said Dame Chimwe Anyas-Nwakwe, "the preparation for the celebration, was not about management
alone, everyone associated with the school were involved, past students,
parents, friends of the school and well-wishers came around to be part of the
big 20th year celebration.”
And
it all started with the 'Meet A Leader programme' at the school’s premises at
Alaka, Surulere, Lagos. Professionals from all works of life, graced the
occasion and this, Dame Chinwe Anya-Nwakwo the School's Proprietress, said was to serve an an inspiration to the young pupils in the school.
The
Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Mr. Adeniji Kazeem
took time off his busy schedule to be with the pupils of the school for the 'Meet
The Leader Day' celebration. And so did Mr. Emelobe, the CEO of Northbridge
Energy, Mr. Ugochukwu Igbokwe CEO Make Me Beauty Place, Mrs Ugochukwu Igbnokwe,
MD Make Me Beasuty Place, Dr Emmanauel Ogbechie, Medical Director Q & Med
Clinic, Miss Ladi Ogun and Tumi Akeredolu both Helicopter Pilots, Mrs Ngozy
Atta, Make Up artist and entrepreneurs Victor Ebiye, Miss Victoria Ebiye, and
Rachael Okhifo.
They all had success tips to share with the pupils in a
relaxed fun atmosphere at Rightville School premise.
Reverend
John Ojo set the ball rolling with an opening prayer, which was followed by
Naija Praise. The pupils of the school presented two plays titled: “I have a
dream to…” by Maero Ozako and “Once upon a time there was a leader.”
Afterwards
an orchestra presentation received great applause and a special Efik dance
presentation too. Many will remember Ify’s performance of “He lives in you,”
and “Back in the days,” by the Nursery pupils.
The
Chairman of CUBANA Group, Sir Obinna Iyiegbu gave a brief talk on leadership
which he titled “Opi-Agwagwu na Oba,” while the PTF Chairperson, Mrs. Bolanle
Anthony-Kalu also had an inspirational message for the day.
Next
came the awards which was in two categories: The first set of awards was the
Rightville School Special Leadership Award which was presented to Engr. Dan
Nzelu, the ex-longest serving MD of the Nigerian Pipelines and Products
Marketing Company, Mrs Yinka Ogunde, the MD of Goals and Ideas and Principal
Consultant at Edumark, Sir Obinna Iyiegbu, Chairman of CUBANA Group, Audrey
Joe-Ezigbo Co-Founder of Falcon Corporation Limited, Mr. Ugochukwu Igbokwe, CEO
MakeMe Beauty Place, Agatha Amata, MD Inside Out Media Ltd, and Beauty expert
Ngozy Ezeka-Atta.
While the second category of awards went to staff of
Rightville School that have over the years remained progressive and dedicated
to the school.
The
cutting of the cake was one of the high points of the day’s event, while the
zulu dance performance will remain vivid in the memory of all that was at the
event. The vote of thanks was ably delivered by Mrs Joy Ozims before the
closing prayer.
And
to show appreciation to the Almighty God for all He has done for the school, a
thanksgiving service, was held next day by the school at a popular church at
Surulere, Lagos.
