When Chief Mrs. Olubimpe Odubela turned 50 last week
Friday, she celebrated with a classy birthday bash, that will never be forgotten
in a hurry!
So, the Odubelas ensured that the event was fun and
unique. At their choice home in the rich enclave of NICON
Estate in highbrow Lekki, Lagos, the party was simply for family and friends.
The early shower of rain that day was naturally, to
bless the day. The Odubelas celebrated in the open air outside their posh home
under flower festooned white canopies which complimented the Odubelas’ luxury
home furnishings that guests sat on at the party.
And guess what, no single
drop of rain disturbed the party throughout the evening and night.
Glittering chandeliers brightened the interior of the
home as everything that makes a party grand, awaited guest upon arrival.
There was a conspicuous bar at the lawn of the big house to
welcome the guests to the party. It was fitted with a range of wine and spirit
to drown any heavy drinker.
But the Odubela’s guests responsibly sipped a glass
of champagne or any of their chosen drink, as they made their way into the main
party space by the side of the huge building.
Every item spoke well of the taste of the Odubela
couple Chief John Olusegun Odubela and Chief Mrs. Olubimpe Abike Odubela. From the choice cars
of their guests that was parked all over the close, right up to the major road in
the estate, to the banters and deep laughter that spoke much of the status of
the guests, a stranger didn’t need to be convinced that the Odubelas’ are high
class!
He, a legal practitioner who has just bagged a high
legal status of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and his wife the birthday
gal, a top fashion designer of high repute.
The Odubela’s party was not just about coming to sit
and eat, though there were choice foods, fruits and drinks and these were in abundance, to the extent
that the fully clad waiters and waitresses repeatedly asked guests to have a taste
of the different food delicacies available at the party.
Chief Mrs. Olubimpe Odubela's birthday bash was about dance and fun!
A 'White Colour Party' where guests turned out in different designs and shades of white, with only the
celebrant in yellow flowery styled lace dress. The music was 60% Old Skool and 40% new dance hall music flavours. And the biggies , the slim-fits danced to great delight.
The celebrant was in-doors when the party started at 4pm Friday evening. But she danced into the party as the party tempo increased. Despite being
a work day, guests were prompt!
However, throughout the evening and into the night,
guests left at intervals, while others arrived also. There was a steady flow of
human traffic in and out of the party that never stopped! Like ‘Oja Oyingbo’
no one missed the other! The party jumped and bubbled on…
At Chief Mrs. Olubimpe Odubela’s 50th
birthday bash, the fresh looking, healthy ladies, danced like they were 16
years old once again and sang to the old, good, groovy tunes of the 80s and 90s. And the
men who were mostly top government officials, captains of industry, business
people, were not left out in the fun dance.
At Chief Mrs. Olubimpe Odubela’s 50th birthday
bash, the spiced meat, barbecue, was like never before! It was tasty, well prepared and
fresh. The birthday gal came in with beautiful dance steps and stopped at each
table to greet guests. Wherever she stopped to greet, she danced with the
guests in that circle.
And when it was time to cut the birthday cake, night
had come. But those who were around were not tired.
While some of the guests live in Lekki, Victoria
Island and Ikoyi vicinity, others came from as far as Abuja, Kaduna, Kano,
Portharcourt and outside the country.
And guests from Abeokuta the capital city of Ogun
state were not left out. That’s because the celebrant’s husband Chief John
Odubela, had served as a state commissioner in recent times in a cabinet
constituted by the present state governor of Ogun state Senator Ibikunle
Amosun.
So, there was much love from Ogun state as past and
