Worried about the negative perception of Nigeria by the international community, a non-governmental organization, Proudly Nigerian Campaign is working assiduously to change the narratives by embarking on exploiting the country’s productive uniqueness in all positive aspects.
According to the general manager of the NGO, Mr. Michael Abugo, the thrust of the project is to focus on our ‘bring back the Nigerianess.’
Flanked by Mr. Peter Nwabuoku, Manager, ICT Relations and Mr. Ayotunde Ogunbona, DeputyGeneral Manager, at a parley in Lagos, Abugo hinted that the maiden edition of the campaign will begin in Ogun State mid November.

Citing the burgeoning business environment in Ogun State and the
efforts of the state government in making the atmosphere more conducive for business to thrive, the Proudly Ogun State initiative tagged; Gateway Connect 2017 would be a one day event structured into two with the theme; Ease of Doing Business in Ogun State.

Furthermore, he explained the concept of the campaign, Abugo said: “We have only this country to call our own. We all have to be involved in nation building. There is too much negative information about us and the international community deals with us in that regard.  The hues and cry all over the place is as a result of some people asking themselves if they are truly part of the Nigerian project! The truth is that everyone wants to truly be a stakeholder. If we do not stand up for something, we will stand up for nothing. The project is to identify locate and celebrate Nigerians within and in the diaspora.

"Consequently, we need to collectively and individually create a
positivism that a whole lot of good can come out of this country. It is a Nigerian that is personal physician to Hillary Clinton, a Nigerian in the business of invention of smartphones, a Nigerian in a top food and beverage sector, a Nigerian making waves in the medical sector and so on.

The whole project essence has to be realise and identify those who have made it, those who are making it and celebrate them at elite and grassroots levels. As a matter of fact, we are taking the advocacy to Ogun State. Lagos is saturated with local and multinational businesses which have spilled over to Ogun state. The Ogun state government has also seized the opportunity by making the business environment conducive. In Mid November the ‘Proudly Ogun State’ through conference and exhibition will celebrate 100 percent made-in-Ogun.”

It was gathered that the topic would be in two folds namely; State of Infrastructure in Ogun State; Yesterday, Today and Expectations and The Role of Government and the Organized Private Sector In Encouraging Local Content Development.

Top Ogun State based business owner, Mr. Adeguwa Selem will deal with the first topic while president, Ogun State Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mines and Industry, Mrs. Adetola Adebutu will handle the other topic.

Guest of honour will include Otunba Bimbo Ashiru, Commissioner for Commerce and Industry,Ogun State; Chief Dayo Adeneye Information and Strategy, Ogun state and Chief Kolawole Lawal, Commissioner of Forestry and Agriculture, Ogun State.
