The biggest ever Nigerian elites re-union party is in the works. And it is presently the biggest excitement on social media and the biggest kept secret of the past weeks, as the networking is moving like wildfire connecting people together across continents.
Spearheading this forthcoming re-union, is Prince Wale Osiyemi, a businessman cum politician and a very popular socialite around the globe.
And who are the BooTLeGGerS? The answer varies from one elite community to another but the major story told so far is that it is a social community of people who were teenagers, young boys and girls, 'who happened' in the days of 'Soul Train' and who mostly were sojourners abroad and enjoyed the best of life, the best of party groove in UK, USA and Nigeria, who enjoyed the best of old skool music, best of fun and best of social life.
An inside source who was there when it all started told us that, BOOTLEGGERS by NiteFlite promotions with Prince Wale Oshiyemi, was the 1st Nija club in the West End to bring a colourful mix of people and DJ’s together. And the bond was established, and kept over the years. It was the peak of their 'rocking life' and younger days in London, and was the birth and foundation of Nija entertainments as we now know it.
Every who-is-who stopped by especially the big names between 1991-2006 at different venues which included Bootleggers, The wag, Circa, Q2, Hilton, ParkLane, Connaught Rm, Finchley FC, Emporium, Samantha’s, Legends, Oto Lounge, Granaries, Corks, Moonlighting, Stringfellows, and they are now saying to one another, "let's do it again!"
And the truth is that, this community of friends have been a strong network bonded further by the love of music, having been a constant reoccurrence at different social gatherings over the years. But while some have been separated from one another over the years, others have been in regular touch. Some have not seen each other for over 30 years, others over 20 years and so on.
But its so easy to guess that the BOOTLEGGERS an elitist class and membership is by invitation. Some are today's billionnaires, top politicians, traditional rulers, top professionals in different fields of human endeavours, artistes, celebrated journalists, top Disc Jockeys, IT gurus, NHs management and well to do self employed, well meaning Nigerians.
From what we hear, the first ever BOOTLEGGERS Reunion Old School Party, is slated for London on the 5th October 2019. And the theme is Jeans and Something.
