The 10th year anniversary of Late cerebral lawyer and legal luminary, Chief Gani Fawehinmi (SAN) and Gani Fawehinmi Annual Scholarship Awards 2019 was held at Alausa Ikeja, Lagos.
In attendance
were Prof. Attahiru Muhammadu Jega former Independent National Electoral
Commission (lNEC) Chairman, Femi Falana (SAN), Comrade Quadri Olaleye (TUC),
Prof. Abiodun Ogunyemi (President ASUU) Barrister Femi Aborishade, Kayode
Komolafe (Deputy Editor Thisday Newspaper) & Barrister Mohammed Fawehinmi, Ganiyat
Fawehinmi a host of others.
Prof. Attahiru
Muhammadu Jega delivered the lecture titled: ‘Citizenship and Social Justice in
Nigeria.’ He talked about the role every citizen should play, act or do and the
rights of every citizen and the responsibility of the Government.
Gani Fawehinmi
scholarship award is an annual award and this year about 200 students applied
and only 30 students qualified. Each of the students was given the sum of #150.000
for the scholarship.
This year, about
#4.5 million is said to have been spent for the scholarship for the 30 students.
Barrister Mohammed Fawehinmi in his closing remarks, thanked everyone for coming and promised to continue the good work.
