It was a stunning event as former Miss Tourism, Shirley Aghotse presented ‘Maro’ her new most anticipated book, at an upscale Foodies Hot and Spicy Hall/Lounge, on Admiralty Way, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.
Family, friends and fans stormed the event venue not just to catch the pretty sight of Shirley Aghotse, but also to see new talked about book.
The event kicked off at 5pm as scheduled, with Ify Eze, the saxophonist who led the guest to sing the first stanza of the National Anthem. After which the Shirley Aghotse gave her opening speech to the applause of the guests. She stressed on the fact that Rebirth Renaissance And Advancement Initiative of Nigeria now operates under Grace Riches Army Ministry.

The book review was done by Mrs Bolade Oni, the first female Engineer employed by Exxon Mobil Nigeria and the Founder of Bolade Oni Women Empowerment Initiative, who coincidentally attended the same Alma Mata- St Anne's School Molete Ibadan with the author.
The highlight of the evening was the questions and answers session. The author was asked what inspired the inspiration yellow cover and advice for upcoming authors.
The beauty queen said that her first attempt at writing a book was after her graduation from Senior Secondary School, and she wrote a piece titled "Akpomena" which she gave to a friend who later misplaced the manuscript after reading.
Upon her return from United Kingdom in 2013, she was inspired to write again. ‘Maro’ is a fiction; the story line resonates with the average Nigerian, because it expresses the undue hardship brought about by many years of bad leadership and mismanagement of the National Wealth.
One of the reasons she birthed Rebirth Renaissance and Advancement Initiative of Nigeria accoding to her, is to cater to the needs of stranded Undergraduates without bureaucracy.
