Odubela makes runway impact at African Fashion Week Nigeria

The much talked about African Fashion Week Nigeria took off last night at the highbrow Oriental hotel in Lekki. And as expected, all the big names in fashion were on parade and out to make a huge impression with their various designs.

It was one again and opportunity for Mrs. Olubimpe Odubela of Odubela Couture to show her stuff and she didn’t miss the opportunity. Kick starting the upscale event with international showing, the models made her proud as they walked dainty clothes down the runway with confidence and poise to a repeatedly rousing applause from the audience.

Mrs. Olubimpe Odubela has certainly become one of the greatest designers that has made impact at the on-going African fashion week that will be concluded later this evening. The African fashion week has so far paraded and showcased the best of African designers.

Mrs Olubimpe Odubela is not new to fashion and high society scene. The wife of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Segun Odubela, her office is tucked away in upscale Chevron estate in Lekki.

The daughter of a politician who was a Commissioner in Alhaji Lateef Jakande’s cabinet in Lagos State, Olubimpe Odubela graduated as a Microbiologist but due to passion for fashion, she started by selling children clothes at Tejuoso market at Yaba, but before long, she later relocated  abroad, when her children got admission to study overseas.

Having had a trading background with her mom who was a businesswoman, while she was a teenager, Olubimpe Odubela used the time abroad to study fashion. And when she returned to Nigeria, it was not long before she found space among the top designers in Lagos, clothing the rich and influential in the Nigerian society.

With her impact in the African Fashion Week, Olubimpe Odubela has certainly become a name that the fashion industry will have to continue to watch out for, in the nearest future in Nigeria’s fashion landscape.
