Democracy groups in Nigeria are definitely this moment urging
themselves on to celebration as the Federal government of Nigeria has recognized June 12 and the democratic significance of that day in the political life of the nation.
The Federal Government today declared Friday, June 12,
as public holiday to mark the 2020 Democracy Day Celebration. The declaration
which came via the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola on behalf of
the Federal Government in Abuja.
According to him, it is the entrenchment of democratic
rule in the country. He also seized the opportunity to commend the heroes of
democracy for their dogged determination and sacrifice which eventually birthed
Democratic Governance in Nigeria.
The Minister called for more support for the President
reiterating the need to stay safe in view of Covid-19 scourge.
