- As he declares open PR Director's conference
The Deputy Governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo has said, Akwa Ibom State is a tourist's haven with the numerous people-centered projects put in place by Governor Udom Emmanuel.
Mr Moses Ekpo, stated this earlier today while declaring open a 2-day Conference of Public Relations Directors organized by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, holding at the Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort from today, Thursday 26th to Friday 27th November, 2020.
The No 2 Citizen, who was the Special Guest of honour at the occasion, said, the preference of Akwa Ibom by the leadership of NIPR for the 2020 Annual Directors Conference is an attestation that, Akwa Ibom is a good place to be and enumerated some of the beautiful attractions in the State to include the 21 Storey intelligence building, the beautiful roads crisscrossing and indeed the general peaceful and congenial ambience of the state.
He said, apart from the friendly people and rich cuisines of the people, Akwa Ibom State government is embarking on people-centered projects which has made the State a destination of choice for opinion leaders, Information managers and other professionals across the nation and listed such projects to include: the Rice and Garri mills, the fertilizer blending factory, flour mill, Metering factory, the MRO and indeed the Ibomair through which most of the participants flew into the state for the conference.
While lauding the theme of the Conference, "Changing the Dynamics of Governance through Strategic Communication, a new normal for Directors", which he said is apt and timely, the Deputy Governor said, with the recent #EndSARS destruction of lives and property, it becomes expedient to consider Strategic communication for better governance processes.
Declaring open the Conference, Ekpo, wished the participants a resounding success and urged them to take out time to visit interesting sites in the State, reiterating that, "Akwa Ibom Ayaiya".
In his Goodwill message, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong said, there will be no better time for Strategic Communication than now with the current ravaging COVID-19 pandemic and Economic recession which calls for clear, brief messages that will be easily decoded by the people to avoid ambiguity and misunderstanding.
Comrade Ini Ememobong said, as critical stakeholders in the successful running of corporate organisations and government, there was need for leaders to pay attention and give listening ears to PR professionals in management, security and even in emotional intelligence adding the successes recorded in the state is because Governor Udom Emmanuel is a listening leader.
He congratulated the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations, NIPR for the successful organisation of the conference tagged, "NIPR Directors Conference 4.0" and urged participants to utilize the Avenue maximally to update their skills to enable them perform optimally in their different establishments.
Other speakers at the occasion included: the Commissioner for Information, Delta State, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, the President, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, Mallam Mukthar Sirajo and the Chairman, Planning Committee of Directors' Conference 2020, Nkechi Ali-Balogun.
Participants at the Conference drawn from government establishments, Corporate organisations, oil companies, military and paramilitary agencies across the country, will be drilled by erudite Resource Persons on such areas like: the Changing Dynamics of Governance and Engagement by Mr. Mohammed Awwal Haruna; Managing Crises-the Use of Propaganda by Mr. Femi Awoyemi and Ethical issues in Governance and Strategic Communication by Mrs. Comfort Coleman among others.
