Bishop Oscar Ossai calls for peace in the nation, urges Christians to live like Christ

Bishop Oscar Ossai the presiding bishop of City of Refuge Ministries International has joined other Nigerian leaders to call for peace in the land.

The Bishop called on Nigerians across the nation to embrace peace and deliberately avoid the use of violence.

Bishop Ossai who has been a popular voice in recent times on national issues, made the peace call, in his goodwill message to Christians to celebrate the Easter season.

  

The frontline Bishop recalled that there has been major insecurity around the country in the last couple of years, leading to uncertainties and more clashes in some parts of the country.

"We know that as a country at the moment, there are issues that affect Christians and virtually everybody in the country because these issues border on strife, deadly clashes between herdsmen and farmers, kidnapping ethnic issues, border clashes and so on. But more importantly, as citizens, we should move towards peaceful co-existence which will create a conducive atmosphere for individual growth and also for national growth," he said.

"Easter," he also said further, "gives us an opportunity to be sober and reflect upon the lifestyle of Jesus who came to die on the cross for our sins. He was without sin, but chose to die to set us free. There are many lessons to learn there. So when we feel the tension and crisis going in the country, we should recall that like Jesus Christ, we should not return evil for evil. Rather, we should eschew peaceful co-existence with our fellow citizens."

Bishop Oscar Ossai also called on Christians to be even more prayerful. According to him, these are perilous times that the Bible foretold will take place in the latter days.

"We have to continue endlessly in our prayers. I believe that it is our consistent prayers for these country that has not allowed it to fall apart over the years. So let us continue to pray even more. We need prayer at this time. These  indeed are prayer times." 

 

He also urged Christians to start praying ahead for the next political dispensation in the country, calling on them to also be prepared to be part of the process that will bring in a favourable leadership structure for the country that will be of God.

"It doesn't take God more than a second to fix the problems of our country, once we are tune to Him and He hears our cries and our prayers," said Ossai.
