Chief Mrs. Opral Benson, President of the African Refugees Foundation (AREF), has called on Nigerians to embrace and promote peace in the Nation.
Benson made the call during the celebration of the 2021 World Refugee Day at, the held at AJIBULU- MONIYA GALLERY which was officially Inagurated with the establishment of 10 AREF Hon. Members of Board of Trustees: Dr. Adesegun Akinolugbade, Mr Ademola Oyinlola, Adejuwon Adenuga, Josephine Smith, Mrs Seyi Edun, Adebisi Kuforiji, Olugbenga Feyisetan, Ademola Oreagba, Fatai Suliaman and Margaret Ukegbu.
The AREF president used to opportunity to harp on the state of insecurity in the country.
According to her, "our image as a nation is being demeaned at an alarming rate. If we stay aloof, it is at our peril. We can no longer afford to sleep with our two eyes closed... the issue of IDPs has taken centre in our lives. Today, insecurity has has extended it’s tentacles nationwide, nowhere is safe."
The event also had collaboration with the United Nations High Commission for Refugees.
