June 12: Aboderin releases book, Says, Power hustlers came between IBB and MKO Abiola

After over 20 years of June 12 annulment and the cancelation of an 1993 election that is said to have been the best election so far in Nigeria, Chief Abimbola Moyosore Aboderin, a close friend of the Late MKO Abiola has published a book on MKO Abiola, the Nigerian president that never ruled, and he says that the book is to commemorate this years anniversary of June 12.

The 285 paged book is titled:Democracy And the Untold Story of June 12. It will be launched on June 12 in Lagos.

According to Chief Aboderin:

"I first met Chief Abiola in my father's waterfront house in Apapa, Lagos, shortly after my retyurn from America.

It was on a fateful night around 1981, on stepping into the house, i saw a flamboyant man lying on the floor while my father was seated by the bar, i never knew who Abiola was but my father made the introdcution in Yoruba language saying, this is my son, he just returned to Nigeria after his studies in America.

"He introduced Abiola to me as a successful businessman and politician, Abiola was in NPN, a political party at that time. He had problems with Yoruba people and was using his media house, Concord newspaper to fight Awolowo. Abiola needed to be close to our people back home and my father was a silent power broker which was why Abiola came to see him.

"That was how I met Chief Abiola in 1981. He requested that I see him at his office in Jibowu. That is how both of us became friends."

Aboderin said that, "I feel honoured and humbled to be able to write his story, in a book form."

He pointed out that the book is not written to praise or castigate anyone but written with a clear cut vision to set all records during and after June 12, 1993 straight.

He said that IBB and Abiola were best of friends until power hustlers came between them, and contaminated the friendship.

Aboderin thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for declaringJune 12 the authentic Democracy Day in Nigeria and for granting the Late MKO Abiola his full honour as a Grand Commander of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (GCFR).
