Ime Udoka is an Nigerian-American basketball coach and former player who is currently the head coach of Boston Celtics basketball club in the American NBA. Although he was born in Portland Oregon, USA he had suited up for the Nigerian senior men's basketball team during the FIBA African championship in 2005 and 2011 where he won bronze medal at both event.
Udoka who is a native of Akwa Ibom going by his paternal lineage is the first Nigerian to lead a team to the NBA Playoffs final after becoming the first Nigerian to lead an NBA franchise in August 2021. The former Nigerian team captain thereafter led Boston Celtics to a 100-96 victory over the Miami Heat in a seven game series to claim the NBA Eastern Conference Playoff title.
With this win, they have secured a place in the final where they will contend against the Golden State Warriors another worthy adversary. The National Basketball Association (NBA) is the premier and most prestigious professional basketball league in the world.
