A new private sector tourism entreprenuers initiative to give new meaning to the industry value chain through the celebrations of World Tourism Day celebration, September 27th, was unveiled yesterday in lagos.
To give vent and fresh air to redirecting focus on key areas of the sector, five strategic sub committees on security and logistics, fund raising and mobilisation, hospitality and protocol, event planning and programmes and media and publicity were empanelled by President of Association of Tourist Boat Operators and Water Transporters ( ATBOWATON) Dr Gani Tarzan Balogun, to work out activities that will change the narratives and give meaning to tourism issues in the country.
Dr Balogun, who was represented by the President, Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (ftan), Mr Nkereweum Onung in Abuja two weeks ago, immediately after the apex tourism body, non elective gathering, as Chairman. Central working Committee for 2022, WTD celebrations come September 27th, told members of the committee drawn from travel professionals, tour operators, boat operators, government agencies in hospitality, water transportation, tourism management, culture and the media, that time has come for the private sector to take over, the running of tourism in the country and also push forward a new collaboration template with both states and federal government cultural tourism agencies.
Each of the sub committees, will submit their preliminary reports on Tuesday next week and an expanded meeting, will hold Friday same week to adopt submissions that will flourish the set programme for WTD celebrations by ftan, come September 27th, 2022.
