TAC Youth Convention: Umo Eno Charges Youths to Arise, Take their Rightful Place

By Inyene Pius

The Gubernatorial flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)  in Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno has charged the youths of the Apostolic Church and by extension, the youths of Akwa Ibom State to rise and take their rightful place by utilizing the power of their votes in the forthcoming election.

Pst. Umo Eno who made the charge at the Maiden International Youth Convention organized by the Apostolic Church, Akwa Ibom Territory at Obio Imo, stressed that the youths have the vigour, strength and stamina to rise above immorality, moral depravity, stealing, and killing in order to build  an Akwa Ibom where peace and development thrives.

Drawing from the theme of the convention, "Youth and the Glorious Heritage", Eno noted that no impact can be created in a state of complacency and slumber.

He urged the youths to brace themselves with the necessary skillsets that will enable them create economic opportunities in the face of the serious unemployment issues bedevilling the nation.

In his words: "I am here to tell the youths of the Apostolic Church and by extension, youths in Akwa Ibom that this is your season. Arise and be heard, arise and be recognized, arise and shine. It is no more time for complacency. It is no more time to say something and leave it there. It is time to follow it up with action. It is time for the christian youths in Akwa Ibom  State to rise and demand their rightful place.

"The time to make a generational impact is now. After this convention, you need to ask yourself, What am I going to do to fit into the society? In the midst of the serious unemployment engulfing the nation, the youths must arise to create an impact, and a sustainable difference.

"In the past seven years, we have enjoyed peace in Akwa Ibom. To consolidate on this, we must arise and say never again should we have a government that will kill people, slaughter people in the church and kidnap people. The youths must arise and say NO. In the next government, we need peace; the kind of peace where we can afford to sleep with our eyes closed.

"If you keep quiet because it hasn't happened to you, then you're not doing the right thing. Anyone who has experienced kidnapping or witnessed cult clashes would not want to bring in a cultist as Governor of Akwa Ibom. Anyone who has witnessed this would know that it is time to arise and utilize the power of our votes in the forthcoming election.

"I hereby charge Akwa Ibom youths to arise to Economic Development, Rural Development, Agricultural Renaissance, and Industrial Development."

Delivering the Keynote Address, Apostle Prof. I. N. George who is the Territorial Secrerary, Uyo Field Superintendent, described youthfulness as a period characterized by rebellion and exuberance, adding that the youths who are future leaders must rise up to preserve the glorious heritage handed to them by the founding fathers.

He further commended the leadership of the Youth Movement for their good conduct, effective coordination, and resilient service.

The event also witnessed the dedication of the Heritage Magazine by the National President of The Apostolic Church in Ghana, Apostle Dr. Aaron Ami-Narh.

High point of the event was the presentation of the Heritage Award  to Pst. Umo Eno alongside his running mate, Senator Akon Inyangenyi, and the House of Representatives hopeful for Ikono/Ini, Hon. Glory Edet by the National Youth Leader, TACN, Apostle Barr. S. B. Inyang.

Receiving the award, Pastor Umo Eno expressed gratitude for the recognition and promised to defend the integrity of the youths of the Apostolic church and by extension, the youths of Akwa Ibom State.

Some of the dignitaries in attendance included the Secretary to the State Government Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem, the Member for Abak/Etim Ekpo constituency in the House of Representatives, Elder Aniekan Umanah, PDP Senatorial candidate for Akwa Ibom Northwest, Hon. Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem, Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Orman Esin, Commissioner for Environment, Charles Udo, CEO of Nsik Motors, Mr. Nsikan Johnny, amongst others.
