Uyo Cantata: Umo Eno lauds A' Ibom youths' dakkada spirit

Peoples Democratic Party Akwa Ibom State governorship standard-bearer, Pastor Umo Eno, was yesterday honoured and decorated by Cantata Gospel Mass Choir.

During the Uyo Cantata Gospel Mega Praise Concert at Word of Faith Covenant Assembly, Mbierebe Obio, Pastor Umo Eno saluted Akwa Ibom young people for showing class, tenacity, determination, industry and creativity.

In his words: 'If it were in the past, a Godwin George would not be doing Cantata. He would be depending on politicians to give him handouts. But now, like other Akwa Ibom youngsters, he has risen to the faith of greatness as enunciated by Gov. Udom Emmanuel in Dakkada creed.'

The incoming governor, who was represented by President General of AKWA IBOM STATE WARD LEADERS UNION, Akparawa Michael BUSH, said it is pleasing to see that more and more of our young people were becoming useful to society and themselves; engaging in meaningful labour. He praised their resilience and ingenuity, promising 'that there shall be more low-hanging fruits for such youths when by God's grace I take over on 29th May, next year.'

While commending the governor for laying a solid foundation, Pastor Umo Eno agreed with the message by guest minister, Pastor Samuel Effiong, of Glory World International Gospel Centre, Eket and the charge by chief host, Dr John Linus, who had both hinged on the need to help each other to rise and advised Akwa Ibom people to stand with the governor and the government for better results.

He added, though: 'We must first know that help comes from no man. Cantata must focus on God for help as articulated by Pastor Samuel Effiong and re-echoed by Dr John Linus. For in God we have everything; including the attention of kings, since the heart of the king is in the hands of God and He turns it whichever way He chooses.'

Speaking at the event, Cantata leader, Mr Godwin George, said the honour on Pastor Umo Eno was a token of appreciation for his contribution to human capital development and for his support to Cantata Music Concert.

Pastor Umo Eno's representative, Akparawa Michael BUSH, was flanked on the stage by some ward leaders drawn from the three senatorial districts of the state. Mr Uwem Usua of Ibiono Ibom, Akwa Ibom Northeast, Mr Idongesit Ekponeyen of Ikot Abasi, Akwa Ibom south and Obong Mike Ene of Ikono, Akwa Ibom Northwest.

Also with him were: Mr David Sergeant (Utang Akwa Ibom), Governor's SA on Entertainment, Godfada Uko, Governor's SA on Project Monitoring, Esther Nta, Leader of Akwa Ibom Female Youths and Engr. Don Bassey of Shadecover, himself a ward leader from Nsit Ubium LGA who also doubled as Executive Producer of the Cantata.

The event featured praise and worship which started with a classical rendition of Nigeria's National Anthem, choreography, comedy, fundraising for Cantata land, etc.
