Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Sanwo-Olu, Light Up Badagry With 4TH Door Of Return Festival

The ancient town of Badagry in the marina area of Lagos, came alive yesterday, when Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman and Coordinator of Diaspora Door of Return 2023 and the Lagos State Government, threw the 4th Door of Return open to receive over 25 returnees from the Diaspora to Nigeria.

It was indeed a great homecoming with many deep significance and an outpouring of emotions.

Among them the famous Marcus Garvey, Dr David Anderson and other notable personalities from the Diaspora.

Drumming, singing and dancing heralded their home coming as they navigated their way among the crowd of welcome party, to the Palace of the Akran of Badagry, for a naming ceremony.

The returnees were blessed with new African names in a royal ceremony involving the King and his array of white cap chiefs and the Baales. The new names is to give them a recognition and a sense of identification and belonging to Africa, their initial land of descent.

As we put this together, Badagry town is in a state of celebration. The Lagos State Government is fully on ground with the expectation of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to be fully involved in the festivities today.

There are visitors from all parts of the world and the world press is having a field day as the ceremonies continues today.
