It was indeed a great homecoming with many deep significance and an outpouring of emotions.
* Chiefs, Baales, arriving the Palace of The Oba of Badagry for the traditional naming ceremony for the Diasporan ReturneesAmong them the famous Marcus Garvey, Dr David Anderson and other notable personalities from the Diaspora.
Drumming, singing and dancing heralded their home coming as they navigated their way among the crowd of welcome party, to the Palace of the Akran of Badagry, for a naming ceremony.
The returnees were blessed with new African names in a royal ceremony involving the King and his array of white cap chiefs and the Baales. The new names is to give them a recognition and a sense of identification and belonging to Africa, their initial land of descent.
As we put this together, Badagry town is in a state of celebration. The Lagos State Government is fully on ground with the expectation of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to be fully involved in the festivities today.
There are visitors from all parts of the world and the world press is having a field day as the ceremonies continues today.
