AKSG SAYS EDUCATION SECTOR NEEDS COLLECTIVE INTERVENTION EFFORTS

... As ICSS Alumnae Donates Library Project to School

Akwa Ibom State Government has said Education is a critical pillar of the ARISE Agenda that requires collective intervention efforts by all including; Public Spirited individuals and Non Governmental Organizations.

The government position was made known recently in Ikono LGA during the presentation of a Library project to one of the foremost Girls  schools in the State, Immaculate Conception Secondary School Itak, by the old girls of the school, under the aegis of ICSS ALumnae.

Commissioning the Library project, the Commissioner for Education, Mrs  Idongesit Etiebet expressed appreciation to ICSS ALumnae for lhe intervention project and called on others to emulate the laudable gesture of the old girls of the school.

Represented by the Director in-charge of Quality Assurance in the Ministry, Dr. Roselyn Mfon, the Commissioner stressed that the deveopment of the Education sector cannot be left to government alone but is a task for all and solicited for collective investment in the sector.

Reiterating that, Education is a critical sector in the ARISE Agenda of the Governor Umo Eno-led administration, the Commissioner thanked the Alumnae for identifying with government in the development of the education sector,  adding that, the gesture will add value to the learning of the students.

She also expressed gratitude to the management of the school for opening-up to collaboration and panership by the Alumnae and expressed government's readiness to partner any investor willing to make valuable contributions towards the growth of the education sector which is very crucial in the ARISE Agenda.

While handing-over the Library project to their almamater, the President of the ICSS Alumnae, Mrs. Cornelia Dominic Umoh, said, the gesture was part of measures by the old girls of the school to give back to their almamarer and expressed the hope that, the Library project will enhance the reading culture of the students. 

Accompanied by the in-coming President of the Alumnae, Mrs. Mfon Lawrence, she thanked the old girls for their contributions towards the success of the event and expressed with  optimism that, the incoming executive will add even more value towards the development of their almamater.

Receiving the Library Project, the Principal of the school, Mrs. Imaobong Iyamba expressed gratitude to the state government for  the commissioning exercise and the Alumnae for embarking on the worthy cause.

The Library project Commissioning was part of activities marking the three days 2023 Homecoming of ICSS ALumnae which held in the school compound over the weekend with special features such as'  general elections, facility tour, Seminar, Camp fire, variety night, road show Thanksgiving Service and the Cutting of the Unity cake.
