In keeping with the mode of the 61st birthday celebration of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno PhD, the Honourable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Anieti Udofia, splashed gifts to Special Children and new born mothers.
The Tourism Commissioner visited Foundation For The Marooned (FOMA) Children's Shelter at 29 Esa Akpan-Ata, Ikot Obong Edong, Itu LGA where he presented food items, provisions, toiletries and birthday cake to the special children.
Dr. Anieti Udofia also visited the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, UUTH, where he stopped by the delivery suites of the Hospital to present cash donations to mothers of newborns to assist them to settle their medical bills.
The laudable feat carried out by Dr. Udofia to mark the birthday of Governor Umo Eno coincided with the celebration of the 2025 World Hospitality Day, making the gesture of the Culture and Tourism Commissioner very remarkable.
Quality time was spent at FOMA with the children praying, cutting cake and singing birthday song to celebrate His Excellency. The Children, through their Coordinator, Grace Edidiong Idongesit exlressed deep appreciation to the Tourism Commissioner for the show of compassion and love and wished His Excellency a Happy birthday.
At UUTH, the Commissioner and his team were led to the Maternity Ward by the Director of Administration, Dr. Joseph Akpan who handed them over to the Nurse Unyime Udo Emah, in-charge of delivery Suites. There, Dr. Udofia congratulated the new-born who shared the same birthday with His Excellency Governor Umo Eno and presented Cash gift to the mother of the newborn as well as other newborns mothers in the delivery suites.
Accompanying the Commissioner on the visit were the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs. Grace Akpan, Directors and staff of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, alongside the HSA on Tourism, Mrs. Ime Udo, the SSA on Entertainment, Sergeant David and key players in the hospitality industry under the aegis of Hotel Owners’ Association led by the State and National President of the Association, Elder Charles Bassey and Mr. Daniel Udo respectively.
The outreach organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism was in partnership with the Akwa Ibom State Chapter of the Hotels Owners Association.
Once again, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism wishes His Excellency Governor Umo Eno a happy 61st birthday and many more happy returns.
